This was a special photoshoot for Louise, as her sister was over from Australia for a visit and these mini sessions gave her the opportunity to have a photo taken of her whole family, including the grandparents!

It was a beautiful sunny day but still very cold and muddy in places but the family were so lovely and relaxed and kids are all so beautiful which made it all so easy to photograph them.

Emma and Alex

It was a real pleasure to photograph Emma and Alex. We had a lovely time running up and down the beach and playing in the sand and pebbles.
And even though it was a gloomy day with a slight drizzle the kids were in good spirits…

Luckily I had the opportunity of taking part in a styled shoot workshop in April. Inspiring photo shoots split into two different sets; The spirit of Beltane and The gypsy caravan. We were divided into two teams with lead photographers, and given a chance to take photos of the stunning scenes set before us. It was a chance for me to push my creativity, learn some new skills, and spend time with other photographers.

The magic started with the red gypsy caravan, a smoking fire, the gorgeous gypsy styled model in a fiery orange velveteen dress and the cutest lamb you could ever meet!

Part two of the day gave us the spirit of Beltane, which takes its inspiration from the Gaelic May day festival and the celebration of the beginning of summer. Using a bridal concept it captured the magic and enchantment of two people in love.

It was a great day, with the most fabulous styling, gorgeous models and location and all put together by the lovely Melissa Love and her brilliant team. Bring on the next one!

A fun snowy afternoon. Our snowman is a bit on the small side but we had to work with what we got! Although with all the extra snow we’ve had since, I may have to make a bigger one tomorrow! Did you all enjoy the snow? xx

This is my favourite image of 2012. Why? firstly its of my two little cherubs, and also because they look very content and are playing beautifully together. Processed with Jinky Art’s Photoshop Action ‘Wonderland Drill’ and a little bit of OSP ‘Rose Dust’.

As the end of 2012 approaches, I thought I would put together a snapshot of my family in 2012. Its been a lovely year with lots happening.

  • Sammy’s first ever birthday!
  • Evelyn turning a big 3!
  • Our first holiday with both kids on our own (no grandparents to help) Ahhhhh ….
  • My husbands job change
  • We have had some much needed mini breaks away from the kids. A big thank you to Nana and Grandad for this, it has been much appreciated!
  • The relaunch and renaming of my portrait company – Evelyn Rose Photography

Memories

I always start a new year with a new calender of my kids and distribute it accordingly to the grandparents. Its a lovely showcase of the past year and will provide memories of moments forgotten.

This year, I am also determined to finish my photo albums. These are time intensive projects. Not an easy task when you are looking after kids and trying to run a business! I will go through all my folders of the past year and pull out the best/memorable images from each one. Each image is then placed in monthly order. These albums will also include little excerpts of the kids funny sayings and the quirky things that happen with them and family members, and hopefully some of their best artwork (ahem). I have lots of work ahead of me as I still haven’t completed 2011. Whilst my memories are still fresh in my mind I will start with the 2012 album. Watch for further updates on my progress.

We set up camp in the living room. Two chairs, a load of blankets and lots of trinket-style decor and we were ready for shooting. The kids were in good spirits, playing with the tea set, teddy bear and trinket box. I used flash with a large soft box for fill-in lighting and the large patio windows for frontal light. I love the colours, the pinks and the black & whites. This session also provided me with images for my yearly Christmas card. Thank you to www.kimladesigns.com for the wonderful template.

I was not sure what I was going to get from this photo session, as it had so many different elements – a whole family group shot (brother, cousins etc), all three kids together, Matilda on her own and Mum/Dad and Matilda. Also the weather was very changeable – cold, windy and later wet. But when I got there, what I did find was a very lovely family set-up, with chilled out and very willing children. Jaxson was just brilliant to photograph. He’s very photogenic and also a I think a stylist at heart – helping me set up the rooms and getting Poppy and Matilda together. Poppy was a cutey and Matilda is just adorable, and even though she was feeling under the weather, she photographed beautifully. Generally I would have classed this photo session as two separate photo shoots but with Christmas fast approaching we shot it as one in the morning. I managed to get them outside for a few shots whilst it was dry and managed to quickly photograph Mum, Dad and Matilda before the rain came down. Thank you to Louise and Nick for allowing me the opportunity to take some amazing shots of your family. xx
